Looks Good To Me

West Side Story...

...but not your mother's West Side Story.

Cynthia and I went to the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra concert at the Mount Baker Theatre this afternoon. The guest artist, superstar violinist Sarah Chang, performed in a new arrangement of some of the favorite West Side Story songs for solo violin and orchestra. She also played in Por Una Cabesa, a tango featured in the movies Scent of a Woman and Schindler's List. Her performance in both works was a tour de force. We are very fortunate to have someone of her calibre playing in the small town of Bellingham.

One of the other works on the program, Dvorak's New World symphony, is a favorite of ours. We agreed that this was one of the best concerts we've ever been to.

I took a photo of Sarah Chang signing CDs during the intermission. You might notice similarities with Cynthia's and ArtistAnnie's blips -- not surprisingly, since we were all shooting elbow to elbow!
