Lichen ID essentials

On the second day of my Lichen Identification course we spent quite a lot of time in the lab, using microscopes, identification keys and carrying out chemical tests. A bit of a new world for me, having missed out on any serious scientific education after General Science at secondary school. I love it - give me a life alternating between long country walks and absorbing sessions hunched over a microscope.
