Fishing at dusk on the Mokihinui River
Day one of our trip to the coast. After arriving and unpacking the truck at our Bach on a gorgeous evening, it seemed a good opportunity to walk the 100m from the back door to the banks of the Mokihinui river.
As the tide was out in this coastal estuary, it was easy venture out on to the sands, through the massive piles of driftwood, to the rivers edge.
The view here is upstream, looking towards the Karamea bluff in the distance. It was only after I set up the tripod and got a few frames that I realized that a couple of young guys were fishing behind the rocky outcrop.
It's great to be on the West Coast again, and it's nice to be staying at the Mokihinui for the first time. Somehow I don't think it will be the last.
