Mam at Lochend

A fine day, warm in the sunshine, there was some cloud from time to time.  Clear skies tonight, and chilly.

Day off work, and up early.  A morning puttering about the house, and then headed off to meet mam for a walk.  We heard our first Laverick (Skylark) while out.  Spent a while in the garden this afternoon, and also headed to the peat hill, and got some of the bank tidied.  More walkies with Sammy this evening, and now feet up, and Tom and Jerry movie on.  All primary schools went back to full attendance today, except Mossbank. They've had to close, as a new case of Covid-19 has been detected in a member of staff.  First new case in five weeks, and it's due to travel!

Me and mam continued our family history research at Lunnasting, looking at 4x great granny Lilias Sutherland.  Lilias was the third child of 12, to Alexander and Janet (first wife).  She was born here at Lochend, 3rd Feb 1825.  She married my 4x great granddad Mitchell Arthur, from Traewick, just over the hill (which I Blipped last year), they wed 22nd Nov 1845 at the Manse, Voxter.  They lived at Gilsbrake, Vidlin, where they had seven bairns, 5th born my 3x great granddad George, born 1852.  By 1881 they were living at Clett, Delting. By 1901 they had moved to 8 Law Lane, Lerwick, and this is also where she passed away, 9 Feb 1908, aged 83.  We met a newly discovered cousin, Maxie Jamieson, who we will pop along, when we can, and hope he might have more info.  Mam outside the old family home, at Lochend, Levaneap, Lunnasting.
