The Sky In The Folly (It's All Greek To Me)

Today's images were taken in Dunorlan Park in (Royal) Tunbridge Wells. Me and my sister had stopped off there on the way back from her hospital appointment for a check up on her broken wrist (the consultant has confirmed it is healing well thankfully). It felt so great to be in a different environment for the first time in weeks.
Dunorlan Park and grounds are just outside the town and extend to 78 acres with a 6 acre lake (see extra). The grounds were landscaped in the 1860's by the prominent Victorian garden designer Robert Marnock for the Yorkshire millionaire merchant and philanthropist Henry Reed - who owned the estate and the now demolished house that overlooked it (it was demolished in the late 1950's after falling into serious disrepair).
The grounds also have a rockery, a terrace, a fountain, a cascade, a grove and a folly in the shape of a Greek temple (the main image). Just as we walked up the path towards the temple I noticed the light change and managed to capture the reflection of the clouds in one of the windows. The temple used to contain a statue called The Dancing Girl - you can just make out the plinth it used to stand on - but this was stolen in 2006 and has yet to be recovered.
As we headed towards the cafe, which was offering take away food and drink, there was a sudden hefty downpour and we had to run for cover. We ordered cappuccinos and hot dogs with onions (hadn't had a hot dog in years) but instead of sitting out looking over the lake we had to head back to the car for shelter. Still great to have a treat though!

Watched the final of The Great Pottery Throw Down tonight. Brilliant!
