Two Guys

This photo celebrates the only famous Monmothians: Henry V and Charles Rolls. Henry was born in Monmouth so probably only spent a few days here and Charles was half of Rolls Royce but also known as the first British pilot to die in a plane crash. Still, they are celebrated outside the Shire Hall which is a fine building thanks to £6 million of Lottery funding. Probably best known for hosting the assizes which sent down or transported many of the Chartists who survived the Newport Rising.
