Flotsam

By Flotsam

This post has been a long time coming.
We locked our doors to visitors 1 year ago today....in the face of government guidance which stated that it was extremely unlikely that Covid would get into nursing homes.
I could not have wished to have been part of a more dedicated, good humoured, brave and loving team. They managed to keep the residents Covid free for almost a whole year.
We were fortunate to have the first vaccine on New Years Eve, but in mid February we had 3 residents test positive and we battened down the hatches and held our breath. Fortunately they all remained symptom free and there has been no spread to other residents. We owe a huge debt to the scientists.

Today , one year on from shutting our doors, the residents had their second vaccines. The GPs were fabulous and we are eternally grateful to them.

We know that this journey isn't completed yet....but today we were all smiling very broad smiles....and feeling a little emotional.
