Cherry Blossom at the Carillon
Somehow it seems too early for blossom, it still being cold and grey, but the blackthorn and cherry have other ideas. The blackthorn is brightening up our hedgerows and the walk along the Blackbrook in Loughborough while the early cherry appears just a little too fragile for the conditions.
Drear skies changed swiftly early this afternoon to an astonishingly clear, bright blue. We decided to go for a walk in Queen's Park, Loughborough. Flower beds have been given over to primulas. The dark blue, almost indigo colours hit you in the face. Some daffodils and a small plot of yellow and red tulips which were passing over.
I liked how this cherry blossom stood out against the Carillon.
We walked to the market place where Len bought lattes from Costa. We had to lean against vacant market stalls to drink them because the benches have been removed. It was a pleasure to stand in the sun with the coffee.
