Destruction
Our lives are dominated at the moment by preparing for the container that should be arriving at 2pm tomorrow (exactly when we're supposed to be on a Zoom with Allegra's school)… The purpose of said container is to contain all Mike's tools and his boat and suchlike, so we can actually live in the small space we have. We aren't allowed to build a permanent structure, but it has to be fairly secure, so this is the solution we've come up with.
So, to Évora this morning, mainly to get rollers in case the lorry can't place it where Mike wants it to go, and various other bits. Then, as soon as we got back, he set to knocking down one of our gateposts, to give the lorry more room to turn. He'd have liked to remove that end olive tree, but we'd have to get permission to do that. Here it all is from the other side. Just hoping it will all be made good again someday...
Gratefuls:
- the total beauty of the countryside at the moment, the vineyards are bursting into leaf, new types of flowers everywhere, storks swooping and building
- an impromptu picnic with a tray of sushi from the supermarket, and a bottle of kombucha (which we quite liked)
- a group chat with our kids, which cheered me up a lot, thanks, you five!
