Alan at the Training Rig

This is Alan Arthur, a Lecturer in the Chemicals Team at Forth Valley College Falkirk Campus and he teaches students about the Training Rig which is behind him.

The Training Rig helps students to learn - in real life and in all conditions - about operating such equipment and who better to tell them than lecturers such as Alan, because he spent 30 years as a Process Operator and latterly a Foreman at the BP Chemicals Plant just up the road in Grangemouth.

I visited two Colleges today - Anniesland and Forth Valley - and as ever was very impressed with what I saw and heard from management, staff and students alike.

Here in Falkirk there is the closest of liaison with major employers such as BP and Ineos and it was good to talk to them and get their positive perspective.
