At last the canyon is done
Between the lumber million Rifle and Craig, I long ago built a canyon or maybe a deep gully to separate the scenes. The other reason was to have a place where I could install a curved wooden trestle I had built - an old kit from Campbell - over 25 years ago for my last N scale layout. Always liked it so it needed a gully to cross. As it worked out, the trestle is part of a branch line from Craig to Aspen - which is "off the layout". This little bit of track is where I drop off freight cars to be picked up by a local train from Aspen (in my mind), who then drops off empties to be picked up from Craig, and eventually sent on to Glenwood Springs. A destination for cars off the layout.
The "hole in the ground" was just finished a bit with some rock outcroppings - enough but an eyesore. So I added growies and trees and bushes to soften it up a bit. Just one of those projects that finally rise up to the level of awareness and it had to be done.
