Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

New life!

What a gorgeous day today and I saw lots of it thanks to the girls who woke me at 6.15am! Eilidh came through protesting that Isobel had hit her because she wouldn't wake up and dress Isobel's doll for her. When I suggested to Isobel that perhaps she was being a bit unreasonable she was having nothing of it and by then we were all awake anyway. Isobel one - Grandma and Eilidh nil!!!
We got dressed and had breakfast and set off for nursery and school. I don't think the mini chocolate croissants I got as a treat had much to do with the rate they got dressed at and the speed the cornflakes disappeared at.....all these years of practice as a teacher b̶r̶i̶b̶i̶n̶g̶ encouraging young children are finally paying results!
The electrician arrived on time at 10.30 and replaced the bathroom fan which had been condemned and removed in January, so that was a good result.
Kathryn popped in on her way back from Fife and we all enjoyed a very pleasant garden coffee, so good to be able to do that and not be wrapped in layers of clothing. These warm temperatures are probably not going to last but it's good while they do.
I spent the rest of the morning enjoying the sunshine in the garden - it got to 17° in the sun, wonderful. I was very glad I'd got most if not all of the weeding done so I didn't feel guilty hoping nothing!
The insect life is taking off, so today's is the first insect blip of the season with two ladybirds and a tired looking Tortoiseshell enjoying a bask in the sunshine. I noticed trouble on the roses though, with not only the first of the aphids, but, if you look closely a caterpillar surrounded by silk in there too!
The rest of the day was spent in three Zoom meetings, enjoyable but I wanted to be outside.
Keep safe everybody. The politics are coming to a head and that's more than enough drama thank you very much!
