Beautiful day outside and a beautiful sunset apparently. I missed the lot stuck in my sweat box
Mad day and hit the ground running with non stop tricky patients. Why do all the non straightforward ones come on the same day?
I had this one who thought her right eye was developing a cataract. It was fine however she hadn’t noticed she’d lost her sight entirely in the left eye...?!
Photo shows top photo her right macula healthy and normal, looks like a nice pair of buttocks, below, left eye, central crater where all her nerve fibres should be.
The culprit? A macula hole. Full thickness, whole macula, gone. Not good. Little to nothing can be done though she didn’t bother and was only a smidge concerned that her nightly vodka drinking caused it. In the middle of this a patient turned up 25 minutes late for a half hour emergency appointment giving me five minutes to sort his ‘serious’ problem. We have a locked door policy at the moment and for his remaining five minutes he harangued me for refusing to see him. Frazzled I just told him it cannot be that serious if he doesn’t value the appointment time needed for me to investigate thoroughly and I refused to take responsibility for his eyes and outcome by doing so when he now had three minutes left and me, an emergency sitting dilating.
Hot and bothered!
Took til quarter to seven til I finished up all the other patients notes and referrals so pootled home whacked and irritated to have missed the sunset. I nipped over the golf course to catch the last light and Arthur waved his seat at me.
Unfortunate timing as it was dark by the time I walked back along the lane and all the Worlds frogs were out for a promenade.
I screamed
More than once
