Flashback to a previous life
This reminder of a previous life arrived in the post this morning. A life when twice a month during the winter months, on a Wednesday afternoon, we joined others for a cross-country run somewhere in East Anglia. The "others" included fit young things from RAF Marham & Honington, students from UEA, middle-aged runners who could negotiate time off work, & a large contingent of us retired folks, two of whom were in their eighties. The "somewhere" included windswept Norfolk beaches, country parks, NT estates, tracks & wet meadows with a stream crossing at Whitwell, sandy Norfolk forests & muddy Suffolk fields & woods. All very informal, all great fun. I'm never going to win my age category but it's nice to have a "series completion" memento - except that it wasn't actually 10 events, the first lockdown took out the final event at Catton Park. Let's hope by next winter...
