Vaccine Victory

I’ve had countless injections in my life but this one, my Covid vaccine, has been the only emotional one.

My mother was a GP and living in Australia growing up, and travelling to far flung places, she injected us yearly with tetanus and numerous other drugs. Different world then.

As I was waiting in the queue, a man came out of the pharmacy and victory punched up into the air. I wasn’t quick enough to respond but I wish I had.

I’d have liked to hug someone. Even beaming behind my mask doesn’t really convey much. What a year. There are so many heroes.
