One man and his amp
For years Richard has been on the lookout for a secondhand amplifer, the very model (a particular Vibralux) that he owned in his youth and sold, with immediate regret. Recently one appeared in a local music dealer's shop, and while R debated with himself about it, it sold. Then the sale fell through, and R got it after all. He was a very happy bunny this afternoon.
Before that, I spent the morning being Jack's model while he practised some lighting set-ups. He has a little bit of paid photography work next week and the week after, taking portraits of resettled Syrian families who have come to the UK through one of the very limited programmes that allow legitimate entry. This mini-project will be documenting the programme, with images taken within Covid-safe guidelines in people's homes. We played about with a big softbox and a reflector, and got some nice results. Then Jack went home with the kit and I took this picture of Richard, with his back to the light... not very subtle... could have used that reflector :-)... but sometimes it's fun just to see what you get with the conditions that you have.
