Vacc'd

Somehow, amidst all of the unforgivable ineptitude and cronyism, the Tories got one thing right: while haplessly spraying money in every direction, they took a gamble on the development of a vaccine. Taking a spread-betting approach, they accidentally ensured we'd end up with vaccine and, for now, plenty of it.

More characteristically, they have shamelessly taken the credit for the successful roll-out, with Matt Hancock managing to talk about its success without once mentioning the NHS. Are we really surprised they're only offering nurses a 1% pay rise whilst throwing many more billions in the direction of Dido Harding's spectacularly rubbish test and trace programme. I'm not sure that a worse job could be made of that.

Still, we have a vaccine, not one, in fact, but two and soon to be three. I'm grateful for that, whatever the background. God willing it will provide an exit from Johnson's drunk at the wheel approach to managing the whole debacle.

I went to Lancaster Town Hall to have my jab, today. The whole enterprise was super slick and everybody was so friendly and helpful. It was actually rather enjoyable.

After I'd had the injection, the chap advised me to drink plenty of water and take paracetamol, which I did for the rest of the day. All good so far; no side effects.
