Plane Trees In The Circus

The plane trees in the middle of The Circus are not an original feature but were planted in 1810, fifty years after completion of the buildings and replaced a communal well.
There is a noticeable depression in the grass on the Eastern side of the grass here, the result of a large bomb which was dropped during the blitz of Bath in April 1942
If you stand in the centre of the trees and shout you get a gratifying echo from the circular buildings.
