ADRIAN'S MOTHERS DAY CARD

Thank you for all your lovely birthday wishes to Adrian, it was very kind.

I don't know what I was expecting as I haven't seen him since February 2020.  Before I was allowed in I had to have a Covid test which is sensible.  As I stood in the hallway he had just woken up after having a nap.

I had to gulp back tears as I was shocked.  He was bent over finding it difficult to walk, but he came to me and we had a lovely cuddle.  He was encouraged to limp into the lounge where he sat in his favorite chair.  This is a son who used to be able to run like the wind.

He was pleased to open his presents and immediately enjoyed putting all the shapes into a special cube I had bought him.

All of a sudden he started to cry and was encouraged not to rub his eyes.  This was because he has been known to make the skin around his eyes bleed.

We don't know what he is thinking.  Did he think I had left him for good?!

He asked for a "cup of tea" but was told it was too soon from the last one.

He asked to go to the toilet but again said he had not long been.

Can you imagine living a life like this?  I stayed with him for over an hour and in between tears managed to get him to sing with me  and told him it was good for him. We sang "Combe by Ar", which he first sang when he was just 3.  He knew the words and his carers were surprised.

You can imagine when I had to leave driving was difficult through the tears.  I brought his special card home.  He cannot write but did at least enjoy the coloring.

It was hard coming home and having to explain to  Mr A and Matthew and of course they were both upset.

Can you imagine going through life not being able to say how you feel.  We take communication for granted.  So the next time something upsets you and gets "under your skin", spare a thought for people like my Adrian, now 45 but really only 2!!

As I am typing this I am crying again and I'm sorry.  This is probably why I don't blip every day, my life is not trivial.

Take care fellow blippers and appreciate your life. xxxxx
