After vaguely trying (when suitable components required replacement and were available in suitable colours) to edge away from the general red/black colour theme of the original bike (despite it being bought in 2006 rather than 1986) Friday's wheelfucking mech-eating mis-hap required a new rear mech (of which the nearest cheapest suitable in-stock turned out to be black) and a new rear shifter wire (which turned out to be the red one I found half-price in a sale a couple of years ago but had hitherto managed to avoid using) though at least the new cassette I'd bought a few months ago (and had been going to replace at the weekend anyway) is not black, though the simultaneous and possibly connected enknackerment of the rear light's wire also required that replacement wire be fitted, unfortunately resulting in lots of red wire as I couldn't find the similar orange stuff with which the sparebike was festooned when the supplied rear light wire turned out to be fractionally too short.
