The Hay Wain

Absurdly busy day so I'm back blipping to catch up. Today's stamp features the painting "The Hay Wain". I'm not sure exactly when it arrived but my grandmother bought with my mother a framed print of this painting, and as a small child we often played eye-spy with it. I don't think my father ever gave a toss about wall art, but my grandmother did and always had a print or a nice clock on the wall over the fireplace. Apparently it's Britain's second most popular painting, which is why I think of it as a bit obvious, even if it's a nice enough scene.

Apparently the stamp is from 1968, so before my time...!
