Royces
RR has long been a major employer in Derby and an important place in the world for the development of aero engines. Whilst the world instantly know RR as Rolls Royce and can often shorten it to Rolls, that never happens in Derby. It is always known as Royces and that is because of the man that used to live in this grand house.
The house is about half way around our walk today, up hill to Quarndon, the next village. It's a walk we did regularly during last years shutdown but after Christmas it became so wet around the stiles that we gave up on the walk and got out of the habit of turning right twice as we left home. The extra is a shot from Bunkers Hill looking back to our village and as we walked over the fields I was delighted to hear and see my first skylark of the year. We get lots of skylarks on our golf course so I am looking forward to getting back on the course and seeing the song flights over the rough.
