The rain seems to be easing, here at least, but people are still being evacuated from other parts of the state.
More than 18 000 people have been displaced by the floods.

I've heard various commentators today praising the efforts of the volunteers and SES and particularly mentioning how great the communication and teamwork have been, and that much of this they put down to lessons learnt from the catastrophic bushfires.

So if there's a silver lining to all these clouds it's that we're getting much better at handling natural disasters.
