Low tech telephone cables

While on our walk today our attention was caught by the ingenious ways that our local telephone cables have been laid between one house and the next. Most of the time two or three cables are just laid along the roadside verge but occasionally they have been hooked back out of harm's way over a fence post or a handy tree, as in this photo. I suppose money is saved by not installing poles that may well get blown over during a winter storm.
