The strong wind was hardly noticeable as we walked down the sheltered River Esk to Musselburgh and back via Inveresk and Whitecraig. The snowdrops are almost over but I saw twelve different wild flowers and picked some wild garlic leaves which were made into soup.  Four goosanders seemed to be prospecting for nesting sites beside the river and there were some very amorous toads in the Inveresk Garden pond. Part of the old Eskmills site has been redeveloped into modern offices and a printing works.   The iron work on top of a gate in the complex seemed suitable today for RSDPhotography’s widwed “Symmetry” challenge
