Blip 200: Gentle Annie
Wow, the big two double zero! How did that happen so fast :-)
Day three of the West Coast escape, and it's been a full on day. The early sunshine meant a hastily arranged trip the Denniston Incline and a walk around the abandoned mine works before the clouds of the afternoon rolled in. After a quick trip back up the coast to the Bach, we went for a drive down the Mokihinui river to Welcome Creek for a great view down this awe inspiring river gorge. We then spun round and headed up from Seddonville to the abandoned mine works at Charming Creek, and then on the return journey managed to fit a couple of hours fishing on the Mokihinui. It may have been fruitless (the only bites we had were from sandflies) but it was still wonderful, thanks to the jaw-droppingly stunning scenery
And, after all that, me and Grandad still had time to cross the bridge once more to take in the sunset at Gentle Annie - the wonderfully rugged coastline north of the Mokihinui river mouth - as seen here. Once again the ND8 and ND4 grad got a work out for this exposure...
What a fantastic way to end a wonderful, fun-packed day, and a great way to bring up 200. I can think of no way better.
Thanks to those who has commented over the last few day's blips. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reciprocate due to dodgy mobile data coverage over here on The Coast. Hopefully normal service will resume tomorrow night.
Thanks to all you Blippers out there for your kindest of words over the last 199 blips. Here's to providing you more of the same (but different!) opportunities over the next 200...
