Across the golf course

There were no players on the golf course this morning. The ground must still be too wet. There were only the maintenance people clearing tree branches, bark and other debris.
 
As I walked along beside the course, I was listening to a radio interview with one of the emergency workers who are helping people who have been cut off by the floods. The interviewer asked him how they had managed to reach one particularly isolated property.
 
“We went across the golf course” he said. “By boat.”
