(084) Alcan Burntisland
This is another image that was created today with photographs taken back in 2003. The image shows a panoramic view of the Alcan alumina works that existed in Burntisland from 1918 until 2003. The original photos were stitched together in Lightroom, something that wasn't possible in 2003. The part of the works in this view was known as the 'White Side' as it dealt with the processing of alumina trihydrate, a white powder. The 'Red Side' processed the bauxite ore which gave a deep red colour to almost everything on that side of the plant. Since 2005 the site has been redeveloped as a housing estate and no traces of the works now remain.
