Weathered Knot

We like to check out train traffic when we cross the bridge over the railroad cut a few blocks from our place. They added chainlink fencing on top of the old ornamental and rusty side rails about 25 years ago. A smart safety move, but not very sightly. However, that fencing found another use last summer as artists and protesters began hanging signs, paintings, and flowers on it in outrage over racial injustice, giving it a colorful and satisfying look. Most of the signs have disappeared, but some remnants, like this weathered knot, remain.
