The Tree Opposite our House

We have lived where we do for in excess of 40 years but I don't know the species of tree that is opposite us! I must find out: I'll ask my friend William.

Also - we don't tend to take photos of familiar surroundings: I wonder how tall that tree was when we first moved here. I certainly can't remember and of course I have no photo to look at to compare with this one.
