Development @ high speed

Riding the bullet train back to Beijing from Tanggu this evening, it suddenly dawned on me the sheer scale and pace of development this huge country is undergoing. Construction site after construction site sped by at 300km/h, with gaps of barren and unkempt countryside in between.

A country under construction and its not a pretty site. The setting sun was barely visible behind the smog clouds and every water body that whizzed by was polluted and stagnant. Still, I couldn't help but wonder what the place would look like in 20 years time.
