Online interview
I have been watching Martin Usborne, of Hoxton Mini Press, interviewing Mimi Mollica about his book on East London Up Close which has just come out.
I've heard a few - not enough - of Martin Usborne's interviews and I love his interviewing style, rather dry and with interesting questions.
I liked the way he said that he, as a publisher, maybe shouldn't say it, but one could attach too much importance to the sequence of photos in a book. That this particular book is not really a story (it really isn't).
And he quoted Mimi's profile, first from Wikipedia and then from Mimi's own website, and Mimi doesn't know what it means either: "His photo essays deal with social issues and topics related to identity, environment, migration and macroscopic human transitions." I had wondered what that meant myself. I think the last bit means "He has published a book En Route to Dakar".
