I found this amazing lichen - I've never seen such a brightly coloured one before. We thought that it might have been in 'flower', altho I'm not sure that flowering is what lichen does.
And we also saw what might have been a grouse - but there was a round blackish bird with a red coxcomb (maybe they were chickens 'gone native') which made a very distinctive noise. Loads of them chuntering about in the heather.

We had a lovely walk of about 9 miles, not quite as sunny as yesterday, but still lovely to be out.
