Mote Brae
Today's the day .......................... for a town view
This is one of my favourite views of Kirkcudbright - from Mote Brae, looking down across the harbour to the River Dee - and it's always lovely at this time of year because of the daffodils in bloom.
It is believed the the Lords of Galloway had one of their first castles here - a small motte and bailey fortification - sometime in the 12th century. Since then over the years, the site has been the location of a Friary, the Parish Church, as well as the Workhouse and places of business.
But there's no sign of any of that today. It's just a very pleasant place to sit and take in the view .....................
