Having a ball

Back at our new house today. All the work on the fireplace is completed and much of the painting as well. Work on the floor of Nienke’s bedroom has started and this will be finished on Tuesday. On Monday and Tuesday, the new wooden floor in the living room will also be put in place. Before that can happen, it needs to be empty and somewhat clean. That’s a job for the weekend.

Unfortunately there’s also a bit of a setback. In the downstairs bedrooms, we had planned pvc/vinyl flooring, but since the house is a very old one, the concrete floors can be damp and therefore we need both the walls and floors to be able to “breathe”. In one of the rooms, the floor is still quite wet even after we removed the old wallpaper and flooring that trapped the moisture. We removed that quite a few weeks ago. Today I also removed the wallpaper from the hallway walls as well as the flooring in the hallway. I found out that there was an old subfloor under the laminate flooring that was completely soaked. Now that we have that out, I’m hoping the walls and concrete floors will finally get dry again.

Meanwhile, Joey didn’t care about all of this and he was having fun in and around the house.
