Dishley Pool, Loughborough.
Somewhere I've never been before despite, on and off, living just down the road for around 40 years. I was spurred on to visit when it was mentioned and Blipped by fellow local Blipper Sue Hutton.
I thought I'd ride over and link in my route with another of Loughborough's lakes, probably an overstatement, let's say water bodies, which is Charnwood Water on the southern edge of town. See the extra for a snap of there.
To get between the two I cycled along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal past Bishop's Meadow Lock, again another place I'd not been before, I never tend to cycle along the canal any further than Belton Road, so that was another first to tick off. I'll certainly be riding this route again. There are some nice working week lunchtime spots along the way.
It's a shame there's the bridge just north of Barrow upon Soar where the Soar Navigation and the Grand Union split and the towpath switches sides otherwise I could cycle along the towpath all the way from Barrow. The bridge is stepped and fine to carry a lightish bike over but not Malcolm the Multicharger, I'd give myself a hernia!
