Another Languedoc year...

Soaked

The courtyard at our new house has been flooded frequently whenever it has rained this winter. We're on the side of a mountain so it's no real surprise.

Last week Frederique arrived with his mini-digger and carved out a new stream that now runs round the outside of half the house, down past the greenhouse and off past the potager and over the hill.

Last night was its first test and it worked a treat. Apparently 10mm of rain fell overnight. We collected a full 8000 litres from the roof in the under-house tanks. 20mm is threatened for tonight so we have to hope the overflow works as we can't accommodate another 16000 litres. Amazing eh?

I'm sorry not to have blipped or commented for a couple of weeks. We're currently moving, albeit slowly and bit by bit, but we have no phone or internet at the new house yet, so opportunities are few and far between. France Telecom were due to come tomorrow to connect us, but have cancelled with no alternative date proposed. Gggrrrrrrrr.
