Helping the homeless

This chap was finding it a bit difficult to get people's attention on the very busy Victoria station this morning. Stepping outside the station you couldn't avoid the increasing number of people sleeping on the streets.

I tried to find the official figures for those sleeping rough - which proved a little difficult. Thames Reach explains the issues around counting "homeless" people and quotes:

Rough sleepers

- 2,181 people sleep rough on any one night in England (Autumn 2011)
- An estimated 450 people sleep rough on any one night in London
- 5,678 different people slept rough over a year in London (2011-2012)
