Lych Gate
The Lych Gate at the entrance to St. James Church, Badsey. The gate was erected in 1946 in memory of Arthur Sears - probably one of the most successful market gardeners in the village. He owned his first acre of land at the age of 16 and gradually built up his business which sadly ceased upon the death of his son in 1978. I have heavily researched the family as my house is built on part of the land once owned by the Sears family but which had fallen into disuse, The large greenhouses which once stood on what is now my land had deteriorated over the years into a pile of rubble.
