At Melita Well

This morning Cooper walked much easier than yesterday, so we got as far as Melita’s Well in the forest. The water runs all year due to a deep water vein fed from the Odenwald hills. Erected in 1893, the fountain is Darmstadt’s last remaining monument that reminds of Greatduchess Melita, all other commemorative items were removed after her and Ernst-Ludwig’s divorce in 1901.
