As the sun was shining, I got my gardening on. My washing lines having been getting more and more diagonal every time I use them. They’d been concreted by our ex-gardener but apparently not well.

So today I dug out the existing spikes which confirmed the previously poor concreting. I then nipped to a local DIY store owned by Brian & Quentin and bought new spikes and 2 bags of postcrete. After watching a suitable YouTube tutorial, I did concreting, spike sinking, spirit levelling, back filling and returning. I now have 2 washing line poles that are pretty damned straight. Huzzah!

I also hoed one of the raised beds, sowed beetroot and spring onions seeds alongside onion sets THEN built a structure involving plumbing pipes, pegs and netting to keep that cats and chickens (when they’re allowed out next week) off.

Exhausted, I drank gin and we finished watching S3 of Line Of Duty. Surprising how much I’d forgotten!
