Our beautiful earth
From the school newsletter:
We read the story of Dinosaurs and all that rubbish by Michael Foreman at school this week. In the story the dinosaurs awake from under the ground to find a planet that has been destroyed by humans. They set to work to help clean up the planet and improve Earth for all living creatures.
Our English work involved us writing about how we can help to look after our planet. We wrote captions and sentences to create group posters. We looked at the features of information leaflets before writing some leaflets of our own to encourage others to help take care of the planet. We found out how some of the small things we do can make a big change. For example, recycling and reusing as much as possible, turning off the taps whilst brushing our teeth, making sure all our litter goes in the bin and helping to create areas that encourage wildlife by planting seeds and protecting trees. The children will be bringing home various pots with seeds they have planted in school.
We continued the theme of reusing materials in Art this week. We explored creating collages to celebrate our beautiful Earth. We used old cardboard, newspapers, bottle tops and scraps of paper to tear, cut, rip, overlap and stick. Children worked together fantastically to create some wonderful collaborative collages.
