Lyttelton Timeball
Now in Christchurch airport waiting for the last flight of the day back to Auckland. We spent the day tootling about in the 27 degree heat. Started off with a bit of retail therapy in one of the few remaining antique shops. After lunch headed over the Port Hills to Lyttelton to visit the rebuilt Timeball tower. The tower and attached building were totally destroyed in the earthquake but a couple of years ago the tower part was rebuilt and the Timeball reinstated on the tower. Spent a while watching the port activities below (extra 1). After another coffee and wander (extra 2) we drove back through the tunnel and called in at the Art gallery. One of their latest acquisitions is shown in extra 3. It's called chicken/man and is by Ron Muek.
