£5m Raised for Cyan
Startups are hard work, and fundraising for continued growth is a key part of the founder's job that definitely falls into this category. We've worked for nearly a year putting together a £5m funding round for Cyan, and it finally closed last Friday. We got clearance to put PR out about it today (always a frustrating wait), and I'm delighted for everyone who has helped us get to this point - the team, board, investors, and our various advisors.
£5m seems an unimaginably large amount by the standards of my personal bank account, but would scarcely constitute a rounding error in terms of national budgets...
More importantly, it's a significant milestone for our company, giving us the resources to expand internationally and launch new products, expanding what we do helping law enforcement, social media and cloud companies find and block harmful content from paedophiles and terrorists.
So I'm pretty excited we can now talk publicly about it, and we're starting to see the news appear in the press...
I've tried to take a wee bit of time to enjoy this, but of course now it's straight back to work building the team and investing wisely so we can deliver the business plan and move on to even bigger and better things!
