Just received from England

The editors, who are friends of mine, have sent me the UK edition, since the American one won’t be out until next year. Thom Gunn, also a friend of mine, was a wonderful poet who died in 2004. These letters will help bring back the memory of his great humor and intelligence — not that I ever forget them.

But if you haven’t yet read his poetry, that is the best place to start. I recommend The Man with Night Sweats — though any of his books (including the posthumous Selected Poems) would be fine.
