NUTHATCH

It was such a lovely day, but I reckoned that everywhere I should like to go would be pretty crowded - and I had, and have still, a banging headache - so it was another walk around the old cemetery. The butterflies were busy, including my first Peacock of the year, and there were plenty of ladybirds of all numbers of spots, and colour variations. However I heard some very loud and monotonous whistling and tracked it down to some courting Nuthatches, which was a treat. I stalked them round quite a few trees and caught this one watching or listening attentively. The volume of their calls was out of all proportion to their tiny size, and at least I'll recognise it again.
