Reed Bunting

It was as warm as a summer day today.

We had an enjoyable wander along the Longdendale trail from Torside Visitor Centre. Quite a few people about but not busy. Many happy chatty people.

Peacock Butterflies too many to count.

The Reed Bunting looked good in the sunshine as it helped itself to an easy feed.  Seed is regularly left along the trail in many places and the birds are quick to take advantage.

Tired in the afternoon so didn’t go back to yesterday’s late walk as planned.   The Summer migrant birds are starting to arrive with first reports of single Swallows and a local favourite the Ring Ouzel seen (by someone else)  yesterday where I was looking. Good to know they are back.
