Sahara Dust?
The news said Saharan dust was blowing over the UK so I assume that is the cause of the strong orange light near the horizon. Normally when the sun gets this high, there would be none of the usual sunrise colours left.
The sun is just managing to break through a layer of altostratus cloud.
This was the view across the Firth of Forth as seen from my diningbreakfastroom window at 8am this morning.
