Debris Removal

The choreography of earth movers, dump trucks, water tankers and even a special trailer with two porta potties and people to drive them and direct them came grinding up the driveway at lunchtime next door.I wrote about it and thought I posted it all yesterday, but have just discovered that it didn't actually happen so I'm posting it rather late today (Thursday) This picture was taken from the porch off our kitchen. The one of the tanker spraying the entire lot with a geyser of water was taken from our kitchen.

Rather than rewrite the whole thing, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The noisiest part of the operation is the cacophonous beeping. It's supposed to be a safety issue, but with three or four trucks all beeping loudly enough to be heard down the block, I don't see how anybody could hear themselves think or tell which truck was about to back over them. They probably have a person to perform that function, and another one to direct traffic. There is a dump truck being filled with dirt and twisted metal as another waits down on the street to take its place as soon as it leaves, its load covered in plastic.

I suppose it is silly to worry about such things right now, but massive amounts of plastic sheeting are being used. I doubt if it is biodegradable.

We're finding the whole thing moderately entertaining and it probably won't last more than a day or two longer.
