Island of the Dead Woman
A gcheery name for this small island in the middle of the North Ford. The building remains here are intriguing - I suspect that in fact they might be the remains of a prehistoric burial cairn and this could have lived on in the folk memory producing the name.
Alterntiavley a Victorian corpse that failed to cross the ford safely could have ended up here - it was supposed to be pretty treacherous.
